DeSoto BMX

America’s first covered facility built exclusively for BMX racing. This 60,000 square foot lighted track plays host to local, district, state, regional, and national motos year-round in all racing categories. The track was constructed by the ABA’s track building staff and contains 1,000 yards of hand-packed dirt.

Dryer Preserve at Windmill Hill

75 acres of land, set aside by the City of DeSoto and Dallas County as a nature preserve. Nestled in woods providing shade in the summer, there is a great hiking trail with gentle slopes and some very steep hills, which can provide a challenge at times. There is a bridge that crosses Ten Mile Creek, named in memory of the late Steven Ray Vaughan.

Kiva Park

Kiva Park is a spectacular park nestled in an abandoned rock quarry with exposed rock outcroppings encircling the entire park.

McCowan Park

This park site is a regional athletic complex designated for football. There is a premier field that is used by the school district, 3 more game fields. Support facilities for the football fields include a concrete parking lot, a restroom/concession building, and raised bleachers on all game fields, all of which are lighted.

Roy Orr Trail

Roy Orr Trail is the main component of the DeSoto trail system. This 3.6 mile, 8 foot wide concrete trail travels along Ten Mile Creek through the central part of the city. The trail connects neighborhoods to the Town Center, Murphy Hills Park, and Ernie Roberts Park.
